The Ruby Sanctum is an extension to the Wyrmrest Temple Dragonflight Sanctum raids. Sacred grounds of the red dragons, the Ruby Sanctum was invaded by the Twilight dragonflight. Released in patch 3.3.5, it’s very similar to the Obsidian Sanctum – both in appearance and encounters. The Ruby Sanctum is guarded by his lieutenants Baltharus, General Zarithrian, and Saviana Ragefire – killing which unlocks the only real boss of the raid – Halion, the Twilight Destroyer…
Here’s the video of Clique’s 2nd 10-man Hard mode kill of Halion from our Rogue’s PoV.
Nothing really different from normal 10-man mechanics… just an extra Twilight Cutter beam in the Twilight realm which yet bisects the safe-zone into quarters, and that zones dropped will appear in both the Physical and Twilight realms. And of course, he hits harder.
Update 11-June-2010:
Our 2nd 10-man group has also successfully defeated the Lich King on heroic difficulty! This means we now officially have 20 players with the “Bane of the Fallen King” title and are capable of defeating Heroic Lich King 25. Great work by both teams & let’s not forget those who had to be on standby ^_^.

Server 3rd, Oceanic 11th.
We’re currently recruiting many classes for a Heroic Lich King (25-man) kill, if you think you have what it takes – visit our Recruitment page for more information!
* As of Patch 3.3.5, AVR will cease to work! It was fun while it lasted… *
AVR (Augmented Virtual Reality) allows you to draw and add lines, circles and other markings in-game environment itself. All markings may also be shared with others, but I assume they need to have the addon installed as well. Raid leaders will find this addon an extremely helpful tool for explaining strats to the raid. For example, it can be used to mark locations when explaining raid tactics. These marks can even be left visible for the fight itself. Say goodbye to all those flares!
To install: Copy the folder to your Addon folder, restart WoW and you’re good to go.
Other things you can do with AVR:
Here’s a screenshot of how the addon looks like in game.
Here comes the best part. The coolest thing is that it integrates with another addon: “AVR Encounters” (aka AVRE) to provide visual effects to highlight various boss mechanics, “boosting” your raid awareness heaps. You can download the godly addon AVRE here.
Currently AVRE supports only some encounters in the Icecrown Citadel raid:
Example videos:
These are some somewhat early examples of what AVR+AVRE can do. The graphics have been altered a bit since these videos were taken, but you get the idea.
Addon memory usage is surprisingly decent… ~780kb of addon memory usage in our Lich King attempts, way lower than some resource-intensive addons such as Grid or Recount. If you have a decent system, it doesn’t hurt your framerate very much. Yes, it does lower it some. If you have a slow computer or low frame rate already, I wouldn’t recommend using AVR/AVRE.
Overall, I think this is a really excellent addon and an extremely valuable tool for raid leaders to explain raid tactics precisely, accurately on the in-game environment. Coupled with AVRE, there is no reason for you to fail at certain boss fights now!
Only the Lich King stands in our way now, and we won’t stop until we get him down.
Great job everyone, especially those who managed to stay alive the whole fight.

Over the past week, some of our raiders have performed extraordinarily and were ranked #1 on World of Logs.
Though we discourage our raiders to stare at the meters while raiding, we do encourage some healthy competition & it’s a useful tool for improving yourself as a raider.
Anyway, on behalf of everyone in the guild… we would like to congratulate Orctimatum and Mitigator, on their rank #1 DPS and Healing Done on Lich King 10/25 man. It’s definitely not an easy feat, especially with Oceanic players having latencies of 300ms more than our American or European counterparts.

From wiping to easy mode mechanics like Ice Tombs & Frost Bombs last week, we finally got ourselves together and defeated Sindragosa (heroic) within a flask timer (3 attempts in fact).
We’re progressing very nicely now — jumping to rank 260 in WoWProgress at the time of our kill, and this is all thanks to everyone’s hard work! Excellent job to everyone in the raid and don’t be complacent. At this rate, we’ll be seeing heroic Lich King in no time…
Here’s the fraps of our kill. It wasn’t the cleanest but a kill nontheless.
This encounter is very similar to its normal mode counterpart. The encounter gains only one new ability — Malleable Goo, as well as the standard increase of HP and damage output. His enrage remains at five minutes.
HP: 52,200,000
Enrage: 5 minutes
We expected the heroic Valithria encounter to give us a real challenge and planned a whole night of attempts on her. Little did we expect to spend only 1 flask timer on the fight.
Great job to our healers once again, this time for getting the hang of bursting the balls in the portals, and to our DPSers for getting their kill priorities correct.
Everything went smoothly on our kill attempt, and healing was a breeze with all our portal healer’s stacks kept up high. We finished the encounter with more than a minute before her soft enrage.
For now, here’s a parse from WoL of healing done for last night.
With Festergut 25H over, we’re now 7/12 in ICC 25H and officially past the halfway mark, and another step closer to endgame.
Well done to everyone in the raid and stepping up their game. It was a very close one and we definitely need to work harder on our DPS to put this encounter on farm. No slacking guys!
