HoNAnnouncer – addon review
Addicted to HoN? Love PvP? If your answer to both is YES, I guarantee you’ll love this addon.

Download here (latest version is v1.0.0-r2 dated 9 Oct 2009)
To install: Copy the folder to your Addon folder, restart WoW and you’re good to go.
Essentially this addon emulates the announcer sounds from Heroes of Newerth (HoN) in WoW. The best way to test this addon? Queue up for a battleground and start killing Alliance scum!

2.”Serial Killer!”
3.”Massacre!”

10.”Genocide!”
11.”Immortal!”

There are similar addons which incorporate sounds from Final Fantasy, Super Mario, Quake into WoW… but HoNAnnouncer is my favorite by far — it gives me an ego-boost when I’m in the battlegrounds killing stuff!! It also only uses ~10kB of addon memory, so I have it loaded all the time.
Many thanks to Slushe for a wonderful job writing this cool addon.
I did a slight MODIFICATION to this already great addon just suit my shamanistic lust for blood:
I went to the sounds folder, took the “Blood Lust!” sound file (1_kills.ogg) and replaced it the DotA “First Blood” sound. I just think it’s more appropriate. On top of that, this frees “Blood Lust!” for my Bloodlust trigger in MSBT. To do this you’ll need 2 more things:
- The DotA sound files which can be downloaded from http://dota-allstars-blog.blogspot.com/2008/03/dota-allstars-sound-effects-free.html They are all .wav format which needs to be converted to .ogg to use them in HoNAnnouncer.
- A software that is able to convert between .wav/.mp3/.ogg formats. I found a free software called “Switch”, works for both PC and Mac. To download Switch: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/
To set up the First Blood sound in HoNAnnouncer:
- Find the “First Blood” sound file and convert it to .ogg. Rename it “1_kills.ogg”.
- Rename the original “1_kills.ogg” in your HoNAnnouncer\sounds folder to “bloodlust.ogg”. This file will be used in MSBT, I’ll explain how to do this later.
- Place the new “1_kills.ogg” sound file in your HoNAnnouncer\sounds folder
- Quit and relaunch WoW and it should play “First Blood” on 1st kill now.
To set up Bloodlust announce sound with MSBT:
- Convert the “bloodlust.ogg” to .mp3 or .wav format. MSBT will only accept these 2 formats!
- Copy the .mp3/.wav sound file you have just converted to your MiksScrollingBattleText\sounds folder.
- Open up MSBT by typing ‘/msbt’ in text box and select the “Custom Media” tab on the left-hand pane. You’ll need to add new sound file to MSBT before you can use it.
- In the 1st box ‘Name’, give a name to the file you want to use (eg. bloodlust).
In the 2nd box ‘Path’, enter “bloodlust.mp3″ or “bloodlust.wav” depending on which format you converted it to. - Click OK. This sound file (bloodlust) should now be one of the sounds available in the drop-down menu when you configure your trigger’s sound.
